Dear Readers,
Last night was so special that I am still reeling in the glow of the evening. As usual, rain swept in but a bright rainbow appeared at my shop by the name of Robert LeLeux. What a charming man! One that was so conversationally interesting, I almost cried when he and his entourage left.
You see Robert was unable to bring his mother, as she was attending her mother in Tennessee, so he brought his father instead! It was Mr. LeLeux's first book event with his son and his attendance brought Robert's book, "memoirs of a beautiful boy" into full high definition view. Also with Robert was Michael, his life partner, and his best friend Jessica, who is country western singer in Houston. I have invited the whole family back for Girlfriend Weekend as you will NOT want to miss this amazing family.
Now I have attached the FIRST web cam videos EVER, our NEW addition to bring more to your book club meetings. Pulpwood Queen Laura Smith signed up and joined our club a couple of months ago and immediately brought me into the latest of computer technology. This is our trial run so I'm sure we will have to work out a few glitches. But the videos are unedited, the full view of our book club meeting here at Beauty and the Book.
Also please note that our Pulpwood Queen Book Author of the Month, Paulina Porizkova, called in from Los Angeles to talk about her book "A Model Summer" which is now out in paperback. This is an important book and one that will open your eyes so to speak in her fictional account of the modeling and fashion industry. Paulina is in L.A., beginning today, to shoot the second season of "America's Top Model", which my daughters and I have been enjoying immensely. Paulina even got to speak with my friend Bill Smith, to inquire on his run for Mayor of Jefferson, Texas. Alas, Bill did not win the election but he has the undying support of Paulina. Now how cool is that a supermodel takes interest in our small town doings. She'll be back my friends as she loves Jefferson, as did Robert LeLeux and his family. It's always hard for me to believe that I get these caliber of authors here so please turn out the second Tuesday of each month to support this literacy venture. Your participation and reading of each month's books guarantee a big success at our monthly meetings. In Rotary, we always say, the price of membership too is attendance. Please come!
Enjoy the photos, the videos, and stay tuned everyday for more on our mission to promote literacy and help undiscovered authors get discovered in a big way! Today I'm off for jury duty and I have decided that I could never be a lawyer. That job would be too hard for my emotions that I keep right on my sleeve. This is a sad, sad, world my friends. Heartbreaking actually, and makes me realize we need to read more to understand and to respect others more. Actions have life long consequences and I am redoubling my efforts to be more kind, more patient, and more understanding. Pray for me today, this case is very, very troubling.
And remember, the videos will continue tomorrow and this week. Come back and often, alert all your bookloving friends. We are on a mission to promote literacy so let's get busy!
