Dear Readers,
Click on the image of Barbie as Dorothy to read a message from The Book Club Cheerleader, Marsha Toy Engstrom. Marsha just paid for all her members to become Pulpwood Queens and for their Early Bird Registration of Girlfriend Weekend 2010. This all arrived with a Barbie as Dorothy Doll and the message on your above which is a hoot!
To say The Book Club Cheerleader is a scream is a supreme understatement. I have finally found somebody as crazy as me about books who also approaches her reading with reckless abandonment and ideas.
Her club which is called "Readers on the Hood", now officially Pulpwood Queen "Readers on the Hood" met last night and read "Beautiful Boy". The facillator brought as she put it, "a willow basket with a “potted plant” (which looks a lot like a pot plant) a small folder of note paper, which she labeled as “rolling paper”, Jelly Bellies—one labeled as “uppers” and one “downer” mentos labeled as “whites” and Hot tamales labeled as “reds”…pretty fun"
And I don't want to give away what they are going to do when they go to New York, as I arranged for them to meet Robert Leleux for lunch. Stay tuned on their big surprise for Robert in New York City.
I went back and read some of the emails from Marsha and we talked books back and forth. Highlights include this story:
Kat:
I read this today, and thought of you. However, your career path puts a whole different spin on the idea of “How Hair Plays a 'Part' In Your Career…”
Have a great weekend,
MTE

Or this comment:
Sure will. And as my girlfriend from Indy always says, "Thank you from the bottom of my butt--it's bigger than my heart!" :-) MTE
Or this comment:
Kath:
Robert sounds like a Gem! I owe you BIG TIME, Girlfriend! It's like those old commercials for EF Hutton...When Kathy Patrick talks, people listen :-)
Thank you so much!!
MTE
But the more important point of this email is that reading connects people together in ways that no other venue can. I have met a soul mate as far as sense of humor and books are concerned. I also have met another wonderful resource for real readers, The Book Club Cheerleader. Check out www.bookclubcheerleader.com!
And get ready Pulpwood Queens, The Book Club Cheerleader and the Pulpwood Queens "Readers on the Hood" are BRINGING IT ON for our 10th Anniversary Girlfriend Weekend! They have fully embraced the Pulpwood Queen Program and I see some real contention as far as competition for coming as your favorite Barbie on Friday night Happy 50th Birthday Barbie Party. They have also chosen TURQUOISE as their rainbow color for our Saturday night GREAT BIG BALL OF HAIR BALL themed Somewhere Over the Rainbow in keeping with the 70th Anniversary celebration of The Wizard of Oz.
