Dear Readers,
For those of you that do not know this, I own and operate the ONLY Hair Salon/Book Store in the country, maybe in the world called Beauty and the Book! I love doing hair and I love talking books. Beauty and the Book combines two of my passions and to be quite frank, the hair business is good but the book business has almost come to a screeching halt.
So next time you are thinking about maybe buying a book, would you think about supporting my business. I welcome you with open arms and right now I have a large variety of signed books including:
Leading Ladies by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison
The Chicken Dance by Jacques Couvillion
Memoirs of a Beautiful Boy by Robert LeLeux
Singing and Dancing Daughters of God by Timothy Schaffert
Making Waves in Zion by Cassandra King Ray
The Kabul Beauty School by Debbie Rodriguez
The Camel Bookmobile by Masha Hamilton
Grub by Elise Blackwell
The Unnatural History of Cypress Parish by Elise Blackwell
Electroboy by Andy Behrman
Jim Limber Davis: A Black Orphan in the Confederate White House by Rickey Pittman
Stories of the Confederate South by Rickey Pittman
Around the World in the Middle Seat: How I Saw the World (and Survived!) as a Group Travel Leader by Joyce Brooks
Seven Before Seventy: One Woman's Quest for the Seven Continents by Joyce Brooks
Juliette Ascending by R.Poole-Carter
What Remains by R.Poole-Carter
Women of Magdalene by Rosemary Poole-Carter
So summer is almost here, plan a trip to Beauty and the Book and if the gas prices are keeping you close to home, I ship books as we accept all major credit cards.
Have a fantabulous Memorial Weekend and remember this little ole independent bookstore/hair salon believes that everybody that graces my doors should be treated like a King or Queen. I would much rather shop where somebody appreciates and acknowledges my business.
As an added bonus, for each purchase made in my shop will enter you into a monthly drawing for a Pulpwood Queen membership or Pulpwood Queen Hot Pink T-shirt for the ladies or a Timber Guy Black T-shirt for the guys. I will be posting the winners name on this blog site. The Pulpwood Queens Book Club of which I am the founder is on a mission to get people reading in a big way, one book, one author, one person at a time!
Come join our book loving fun and enjoy the enticing photos of my shop and all the many book selections!
Tiara wearing and Book sharing,

P.S. SPECIAL NOTE: Foam Rubber Productions is having a Launch Party TODAY for Richard Bowden with the Moon & the Starz for their debut CD release "Rising Over Texas". Partial proceeds go to Music City Texas Theater. Pulpwood Queens, this is the band that played last year at our annual Pulpwood Queen Girlfriend Weekend. Richard Bowden is the President of Music City Texas Theater and grew up with Don Henley. He played at this same building as a youth with Don with a band called The Four Speeds. I actually have a tape of those early recordings, what a hoot! But at the same time, what TALENT!
I'll brag on Richard for a while since he went on to play lead guitar with such greats as Linda Ronstadt, was part of the comedy team Pickard & Bowden, and now him and his wife our Head King and Queens of The PUlpwood Queens of Linden, Texas. Talk about promoting literacy in a big and fun way!
So if you want to purchase one of these CD's or a Moon & the Starz t-shirt, contact Richard Bowden at www.musiccitytexas.org.
Next weekend they are hosting Hal Ketchum and June 20, 21, 22, for the 3rd Annual T-Bone Walker Blues Fest and they even have Delbert McClinton coming just 15 minutes from Beauty and the Book in Linden, Texas. I'll have a full report tomorrow!
