Pulpwood Queen Photos this May 2008!

Dear Readers,
Here are photos from this weeks events but more to come as soon as I figure out the technology of my daughter's new camera. I took a bunch on it!
At the top you will see the sisters from Arkansas and Louisiana who hired a driver to bring them over for a Girlfriend Day at my shop and to visit Jefferson. Their daughters and nieces bought them all Pulpwood Queen Memberships! You can see Connie, Marion, and Sherry with Elvis and me and then one again on the left with their driver, Richard. Did we have some fun!
They then traveled on to Soul Surroundings as Pulpwood Queen Kathy Dunlap had some delightful southern refreshments for them as they perused her store to prepare them for a day of shopping in Jefferson.
Next you will see my daughter, Helaina who at the last minute, whipped into my sister's store, Cricket Alley here in historic Jefferson, to purchase a dress to wear to the Pilgrimage Civil War Ball held at the Jeffersonian institute. A bunch of teenagers, who were part of the Battle of Port Jefferson reenactment, came into the fabulous General Store where she works, dressed in full Civil War attire, and convinced her to join then at the ball. My poor Cinderella with limited funds had to come up with a dress for the ball.
Now my sister and her husband, Karen and Richard Penner, bought over 400 prom dresses that are now all on sale for $20 at their store Cricket Alley on Walnut Street. The reason for the photo was this was a halter prom dress that my sister took the shawl too, basted into a ruffle for an off the shoulder affect, added a brooch and wa la! Who needs magical mice when you have my magical sister, or Fairy Godmother working on Lainie's behalf. The dress came to life after my daughter borrowed a set of hoops from her drama teacher. She was the belle of the ball and still had plenty of money in her pocketbook too! I don't know any place in the world like Jefferson, Texas! We make history REAL! Psst, Pulpwood Queens, great buys are to be had at Cricket Alley for our annul BALL OF HAIR at our annual Girlfriend Weekend. For more information go to www.karenpennerdesigns.com or call 903-665-8546.
Next you will see a photo of me and the Carthage Book Club at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame, (www.carthagetexas.com/HallofFame/index.html ), in Carthage, Texas. The book club celebrating their 100th year invited me to come and speak about my book, "The Pulpwood Queens' Tiara Wearing, Book Sharing Guide to Life", Grand Central Publishing. Tommie Ritter who runs the Hall of Fame totally surprised me in her leopard outfit as I hardly recognized her with the complete leopard ensemble and hot pink feather boa and hat. You see Tommie and I share the same birthday and she told me to tell you all we are the same age, 51!
Thanks to Wanda Hanzen and Carthhage radio station KGAS and Marshall station KMHT, the heartbeat of Texas for making that happen! They rolled out the hot pink carpet, all wore tiaras and boas, and bought a truck load of books. I'll mosey on down to Carthage any time!
The one thing about the Pulpwood Queens, we sure have fun where ever we go meeting new friends and catching up with old friends! As someone really famous once said, "it's not about the destination y'all, it's all about the ride!
Hope you enjoy the photos and there are much more coming. Come back tomorrow and please comment. I have no idea if the hours I spend on these blogs are being read it someone doesn't send me a message. Tell me what you like. Shoot, tell me what you hate. I don't care. I'm alone enough as it is reading my books so email me at kathy@beautyandthebook.com or just reply to blog!
